Pool pumps · Coffs Coast

Pool pump repair and replacement, properly assessed.

A pump that screams, leaks, trips the power or will not hold prime is telling you something. Matt works out whether it is a cheap fix or a pump at the end of its life, then sizes the right replacement if you need one.

$0 callout fee for the assessment. Parts, chemicals and completed work are quoted separately.

Common signs

When it is worth a look.

  • Loud grinding, screeching or rattling when it starts
  • Water pooling under the pump or around the seal
  • Losing prime, air in the basket or weak water return
  • Tripping the safety switch or shutting down when hot
  • Power bills climbing with an older single-speed pump

What Matt checks

The whole system, not one part.

  • Motor condition, bearings, seal and impeller
  • Suction and return line flow across the whole system
  • Pump sizing against pool volume and turnover
  • Filter and chlorinator load the pump has to carry
  • Electrical supply, timer and run-time settings

Repair or replace

A pump is only right if the rest of the system agrees.

Matt checks the plumbing, filter and sanitation load before recommending anything, so you do not end up with an oversized pump fighting an undersized filter. If a repair is the sensible call, he will say so. Replacements are quoted separately, with the running-cost difference explained up front.

Questions we get asked.

How long does a pool pump last on the Coffs Coast?
Most pumps run eight to twelve years here. Salt air, sun exposure and long run times shorten that, so a tired pump is often nearing the end rather than needing another repair.
Is it cheaper to repair or replace a pool pump?
A seal, capacitor or impeller is usually worth repairing. A failed motor on an older pump rarely is, because a modern variable-speed pump often pays for itself in running costs.
Will a variable-speed pump actually save money?
On most domestic pools, yes. Running longer at lower speed uses far less power than a single-speed pump running hard. Matt sizes it to your pool and tells you the honest numbers.
