Pool filters · Coffs Coast
Pool filter problems, diagnosed before they are replaced.
Cloudy water, climbing pressure or constant backwashing usually points at the filter. Matt works out whether it needs media, a repair or a properly sized replacement, and explains the difference in plain language.
$0 callout fee for the assessment. Parts, chemicals and completed work are quoted separately.
Common signs
When it is worth a look.
- Water stays cloudy no matter how much chemical goes in
- Pressure gauge climbing soon after a backwash
- Sand or media blowing back into the pool
- Cracked housing, weeping multiport valve or leaking clamp
- A filter that is clearly too small for the pool
What Matt checks
The whole system, not one part.
- Media condition, channelling and depth
- Filter size against pool volume and turnover rate
- Multiport valve, laterals and internal components
- Pressure readings across the full circulation loop
- How the filter pairs with the pump and sanitation
Repair or replace
Most filter complaints are a sizing problem, not a cleaning problem.
An undersized filter never keeps up, no matter how well it is maintained. Matt measures the pool, checks the turnover and recommends media, repair or replacement based on what the water actually needs. Parts and completed work are quoted separately.

Questions we get asked.
- Why is my pool still cloudy after backwashing?
- Usually the media is spent, channelled or the filter is undersized for the pool. Backwashing cannot fix a filter that no longer traps fine particles.
- Should I choose a sand, glass or cartridge filter?
- It depends on your pool, water use and how hands-on you want to be. Glass media filters finer than sand, cartridge suits water-conscious sites. Matt matches it to the pool rather than pushing one type.
- How often does filter media need replacing?
- Sand is typically five to seven years, glass lasts longer, cartridges are usually a few years depending on load. Matt checks condition rather than guessing from age alone.
